This project is currently (2022) going through a hydrological study to determine the effects of the Atchafalaya River and Wax Lake Outlet on areas to the West. 

Historically, high rivers have caused flooding issues and habitat loss due to inundation of freshwater in an area that was previously brackish.  The study is estimated to be completed in 2023 with possible solutions to the problem.
